![If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.—ROMANS 12:18
First and foremost we are children of peace. This title was given to us when we accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
The key word is ‘Lord’.
As Lord it is within Jesus’ right to give us a new identity, a new nature, new bearings. Under the kingdom of heaven, we have become partakers in the peace of God and sharers of this peace.
“As far as it depends on you,” means do what I can within my control which is forgive, reconcile, communicate. When God’s Word says, “live at peace with everyone” He means live in peace as He determines it not on our terms.
Peace does not mean purposefully antagonizing my neighbor or making the situation comfortable for me.
Peace is searching for amiable means for the both of us and oftentimes going the second and third mile for a brother and sister who has offended us.
Is it easy? No.
But when we relinquish the delusion that we can control the results of our opposition we are free to receive the grace God shall supply to help us endure the trial.
This conflict will pass my friend.
In the meantime, remain steadfast, humble, and pray-ed up.
